Ayodhya dispute: Nirmohi Akhara's chief Mahant Bhaskar Das passes away after heart attack

New Delhi: Nirmohi Akhara chief Mahant Bhaskar Das passed away at 88 due to a heart attack on Saturday.

Nirmohi Akhara is one of the three claimants to the disputed site in Ayodhya.

According to the reports, Das collapsed following the third heart attack. He had already suffered two attacks in the year 2003 and 2007.

Das was admitted to the ICU of  Harshan Hridaya Sansthan, where he was kept under the observation of Dr Arun Kumar Jaiswal.

Mahant Bhaskar Das was born in Gorakhpur's Ranideeh in the year 1929. He came to Ayodhya in 1946 and became part of the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid Case in 1949.

Five suspended in UP for seeking bribe for farm loan waiver

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh government has suspended five revenue department employees for seeking bribe for the farm loan waiver scheme launched by it.

Acting on reports claiming that state revenue officials (lekhpal) were seeking bribe for verification of loans in two districts, the four employees were suspended in Gonda while a trainee lekhpal was suspended in Mathura yesterday, a senior official said.

On Thursday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had launched the "Rin Mochan Yojna" (loan waiver scheme) with distribution of certificates here.

Loan waiver of farmers was promised by the BJP in its assembly election manifesto.

Indian Navy band to participate in international military music event in UK

An Indian Navy band will participate in the world’s largest military tattoo -- 2017 Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo -- from August 1 to 26 in the United Kingdom, an official statement said on Sunday.

The military tattoo is an international event of military music performances by the armed forces of various countries.

It is held at the sprawling stretch of Edinburgh Castle Esplanade in Scotland.

The Indian Navy band, comprising one officer and 65 musician-sailors, will perform under the baton of Commander Vijay Charles D’Cruz, director of Music (Navy), who would be the principal conductor at the event.

The team would depart from Mumbai on Sunday evening.

Nearly 2.5 lakh people are expected to attend the military tatoo over 26 days, in which over 50 bands will participate.

यूनिवर्सिटी ऑफ जियोसाइंस के प्रोफेसर ली चोंग ने कहा, “यह पारंपरिक डिटेक्टर से अलग है। मैं हैरान हूं कि सैन्य दृष्टि से महत्वपूर्ण इस डिटेक्टर की जानकारी सार्वजनिक क्यों की गई।’

Post Vaghela's exit, Gujarat Congress to meet today over Leader of Opposition issue

New Delhi: The Gujarat Congress has called a high-level meeting of its core committee members on Tuesday to discuss the issue of Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Assembly, after veteran leader Shankersinh Vaghela quit the grand old party.

As per the reports of  PTI, the party would pass a resolution empowering the Congress high command to decide the next LoP, as Monsoon Session is expected to be held in October, barely months before the Assembly polls, expected to be held in December, said senior Congress MLA Shailesh Parmar.

Vaghela had thanked Gandhi for making him Union minister in the UPA-1 government in the letter. Venting his anger on the Congress, Vaghela claimed he was left with no other option but to resign as his suggestions for the upcoming Assembly polls were not accepted.

"As I can see right now that once again history is repeating itself, as a well-planned conspiracy within the party is at work for ousting me during the forthcoming elections. Hence, I strongly feel that I should not remain in the party at the cost of my dignity and self-respect," he said in the letter.

However, the Congress has asserted that it did not take any action against Vaghela and that the senior leader took a decision on his own accord. Vaghela had been at loggerheads with the Congress leadership for quite some. Last year in June, the former Gujarat chief minister lashed out at the Congress Party for lack of preparedness to fight the 2017 Gujarat Assembly elections.

लखनऊ और वाराणसी में आज हज का पहला जत्था रवाना

लखनऊ/वाराणसी (जेएनएन)। राजधानी के चौधरी चरण सिंह अंतरराष्ट्रीय हवाई अड्डे से हज उड़ानों का सिलसिला सोमवार से शुरू हो जाएगा। पहला विमान दोपहर 12 बजे 300 आजमीनों को लेकर मदीना की उड़ान भरेगा। वहीं वाराणसी से भी आजमीनों का पहला जत्था सोमवार को रवाना हुआ।

अल्पंसख्यक कल्याण एवं हज मंत्री लक्ष्मी नारायण चौधरी व हज राज्यमंत्री मोहसिन रजा सुबह दस बजे हज हाउस से यात्रियों के पहले जत्थे को हरी झंडी दिखाकर रवाना करेंगे।

स्टेट हज कमेटी के सचिव आरपी सिंह ने बताया कि मुख्यमंत्री को आमंत्रित किया गया है, लेकिन अभी तक उनके आने की कोई लिखित सूचना नहीं मिली है। न ही उप मुख्यमंत्री डॉ. दिनेश शर्मा के आने की सूचना है। अल्पंसख्यक कल्याण मंत्री लक्ष्मी नारायण चौधरी व हज राज्यमंत्री हज हाउस पहुंचेंगे। उनकी ओर से स्वीकृति मिल गई है।

उड़ान से दो दिन पहले 814 यात्रियों ने हज हाउस पहुंच अपनी बुकिंग कराई। सुबह सात बजे की पहली उड़ान में 285 और रात 10 बजे रवाना होने वाली दूसरी उड़ान में 295 आजमीनों ने बुकिंग करा ली है।

हर तरफ केसरिया रंग: भाजपा सरकार में हज हाउस पूरी तरह केसरिया रंग में नजर आ रहा है। हज हाउस से 200 मीटर दूरी से ही केसरिया रंग की बड़ी-बड़ी होर्डिग लगी है। गेट से लेकर हज हाउस के मुख्य परिसर में बने मंच के पास भी केसरिया रंग की सजावटी की गई है। होर्डिग पर भाजपा का ‘सबका साथ-सबका विकास’ नारा लिखा हुआ है। साथ ही प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी व मुख्यमंत्री योगी आदित्यनाथ की ओर से हज यात्र पर जाने वाले आजमीनों को मुबारकबाद पेश की गई है।

UIDAI launches mAadhaar app: Know about key features

New Delhi: Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on Wednesday announced the launch of mAadhaar app. The app will work for Android 5.0 and upper version users for now. If a smartphone user wants to download the app, go to Play Store and type mAadhaar.

Key features:


1)With the Aadhaar app, one can carry her demographic information including name, date of birth, gender and address along with photograph.

2) The new app also allows biometric locking and unlocking to secure biometric authentication.

3) OTP (time based) gets generated temporarily.

4) Profile gets updated after successful completion of update request.

5) You can't enter the OTP manually. It will work only if you are using the same sim card which is registered with UIDAI.

Horse-trading sting operation: Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker rejects DMK's 'evidence' CD

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker P. Dhanapal on Monday ruled that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) Compact Disc (CD) submitted to raise the issue of alleged horse-trading of some All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) MLA's, was only a TV channel's video footage with no evidential value.

The issue could not be allowed to be raised in the House based on the media reportage, be it print or visual, Dhanapal said, adding the CD submitted by DMK legislator K. Pichandi only contained footage aired by a television channel.

South Madurai MLA Saravanan, who had deflected to the OPS faction, admitted on camera that Sasikala camp offered him money between Rs. 2 crore to 6 crore for his support.

Meanwhile, AIADMK leader O Panneerselvam has sought an explanation from his loyalist MLA SS Saravanan from AIADMK's rival Sasikala faction.

"Lawmaker Saravanan in the sting operation gave some explanation. We have demanded the same explanation from him," O Panneerselvam said.

State Finance Minster D Jayakumar refused to give an explanation apart from saying, "Like you, I also watched the TV. I don't know exactly what happened. The matter is pending before the court. Hence, it would be unwise to comment."

The DMK severely criticised the ruling AIADMK government over the matter alleging that the party's inter-relationship was purchased and not natural.
